Lifestyle of Environment (LiFE)

The concept of "Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE)" was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling upon the global community of individuals and institutions to drive LiFE as an international mass movement towards "mindful and deliberate utilisation, instead of mindless and destructive consumption" to protect and preserve the environment. LiFE puts a collective duty on everyone to live a life that is in tune with Earth and does not harm it. Those who practice such a lifestyle are recognised as Pro Planet People, under LiFE.

Circular Economy

The circular economy is a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible.  In this way, the life cycle of products is extended. In practice, it implies reducing waste to a minimum. When a product reaches the end of its life, its materials are kept within the economy wherever possible thanks to recycling. These can be productively used again and again, thereby creating further value.

Climate Finance

‘Climate finance’ is a multifaceted concept. It generally refers to finance for activities aiming to mitigate or adapt to the impacts of climate change. However, it is sometimes conflated with the related and overlapping concepts of green finance, sustainable finance, and low-carbon finance. Climate finance implies “new and additional financial resources” provided by developed countries to developing countries so that they can meet the full and incremental costs of climate change and decarbonisation.

Accelerating Progress on SDGs

Accelerating progress on SDGs is a collective effort by various stakeholders to expedite the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are a set of 17 goals established by the United Nations to address global challenges such as poverty, hunger, climate change, and inequality. To accelerate progress on SDGs, organizations like the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are committed to taking action. They work in partnership with governments, non-state actors, and other stakeholders to implement initiatives known as SDG Acceleration Actions.

Energy Transitions & Energy Security

Energy transitions offer the chance to build a safer and more sustainable energy system that reduces exposure to fuel price volatility and brings down energy bills, but there is no guarantee that the journey will be a smooth one. Traditional security threats remain, even as new potential vulnerabilities emerge. The World Energy Outlook 2022 proposes the following ten guidelines to help buttress energy security in the “mid-transition”, when the clean energy and fossil fuel systems co-exist and are both required to deliver reliable energy services.
